PITTSBURGH (AP) - Pittsburgh and Allegheny County officials are mulling several policies - including limiting tailgating hours in stadium parking lots - to avoid messes like the one left behind by 50,000 Luke Bryan fans last month.
That June 21 concert, and another last year - also at Heinz Field - featuring Kenny Chesney, prompted a discussion involving government and parking officials, and representatives of the city's three major sports teams on Tuesday at Mayor Bill Peduto's office.
While the specific policies have yet to be determined, one idea that came out of the meeting is limiting tailgating to five hours before an event. Lots opened for tailgating at 10 a.m. for the Luke Bryan show, which began at 6 p.m.
Officials hope to have new rules in place before a Jason Aldean concert July 26 at PNC Park.
