AV Services drives trashed technology to recyclers

Tuesday, April 15, 2014

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.-- Westminster College students, alumni, and staff provided a tremendous community outreach and service on  Saturday (April12) along with outstanding environmental stewardship.

Spring 2014 E-Recycle Drive

Audio Visual's community e-recycling drive was an overwhelming success, as after 10+ hours of hauling, sorting, and loading pallets, over three truckloads of expired technology was packed and headed to be responsibly recycled by a certified R2 recycler here in Pennsylvania.
(Total pounds recycled will be forthcoming, but we have no doubt it was a record haul.)  They gathered old cell phones, VCRs, DVD players, computers, television sets, radios and so much more.

Organizers were especially grateful for the total team effort that led to this success.

"Whether you donated, worked, helped promote, or dropped by with food and drink for those working, it is tremendously appreciated," Westminster AV Services Director Swanson said.   "The community at large made a very clear statement that they want to responsibly recycle these often toxic items."
