NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.-- Theatre Westminster's upcoming production, "Snakes, Butterbeans, and the Discovery of Electricity," is due to hit the Beeghly Theatre stage April 3-5 at 7 p.m. and April 6 at 2:30 p.m.  Before the curtain can go up on this particular production, however, the script needs to be finished.

Snakes, Butterbeans &...

For the past few months, Associate Professor and Communication Studies, Theatre and Art Department Chair Dr. Scott Mackenzie, along with a handful of Westminster students, hav been hard at work adapting Professor Emeritus Dr. James Perkins' 2003 short story collection, "Snakes Butterbeans, and the Discovery of Electricity" into a stage production. Semi-autobiographical in nature, the collection follows Four-eyes, a young boy growing up in 1940s Kentucky.

Titan Radio's Laura Seiple sat down with the pair to discuss the collection and the process behind its adaptation.
