Penn State appoints new president

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) - Florida State President Eric Barron will serve as the next president of Penn State.

Trustees at Pennsylvania's largest university unanimously approved the selection of Barron at a special meeting today in State College.

Barron is a former professor and dean at Penn State. He will be paid $800,000 a year, with an additional $200,000 retention payment. He will start in May.
