Track & Field: Westminster Competes at Oberlin and Mount Union

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - A select number of the Westminster College track and field teams competed over the weekend at Oberlin for the Crimson & Gold Invitational, while others competed at Mount Union for the Jim Wuske Invitational.

At Oberlin, the Titan women placed second out of five schools with 138.50 points, while the Titan men placed fourth out of five schools with 68 points.

Titan senior Haley Gabor (New Kensington, PA / Ford City) scored numerous points on the track for Westminster. Gabor placed first in the 200 (27.73), second in the 400 (1:00.93), fourth in the 60 (8.31), and was also part of the 4x400 relay team that placed second with a time of 4:22.71. Completing the quartet were sophomores Alicia Nuzzo (New Castle, PA / Neshannock), Marissa Toensing (Newton Falls, OH / Newton Falls), and Caitlin Yakopin (Washington, PA / Washington).

Two Titans also placed first in the field. Sophomore Angela Colella (West Middlesex, PA / West Middlesex) placed first in the long jump (4.73m), while senior Kaitlin Roth (Clarion, PA / Clarion) won the triple jump (9.33m). Freshman Keilah Ireland (Nashua, NH) added second-place finish in the high jump (1.44m).

Titan freshman Scott Hughes (Pittsburgh, PA) paced the men's team with a pair of second-place finishes. Hughes placed second in the long jump (5.82m) and in the 200 (24.14).

At Mount Union, sophomore Marissa Kalsey (Waynesburg, PA / Waynesburg) placed first in the pole vault (3.90m), followed by freshman Brooke Mancuso (Wexford, PA) who finished second (3.70m).  Earning a third-place finish for the women was freshman Cassidy Shepherd (Greensburg, PA) in the long jump with a leap of 4.85 meters. Earning a top-5 finish for the men was senior Jason Frawley (Franklin, PA / Franklin) in the shot put who had an indoor-personal-best toss of 13.95 meters for fifth-place.

Westminster will compete at Baldwin-Wallace next Saturday.
