Westminster Biology Professor to Discuss "Fishy" Concerns

Posted on Monday, September 8, 2003

Dr. John Robertson, assistant professor of biology at Westminster College, will present "What About the Fish" Thursday, Sept. 18, at 7 p.m. in Phillips Lecture Hall located in the Hoyt Science Resources Center.

"My talk will concern interactions between humans and fishes. I'll discuss some recent popular literature that is centered on the significance of different fishes in human lives and culture," Robertson said. "I will also outline the emerging worldwide crisis in fisheries management and conservation. Finally, using my own experiences, including work done with Westminster students, I hope to illustrate why research with fish is an interesting and important area of study."

Robertson, who has been with Westminster College since 2000, earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts, master's from the University of Rhode Island, and his Ph.D. from Arizona State University.
