Faculty Forum Continues at Westminster College

Posted on Monday, September 15, 2003

Dr. Scott Mackenzie, assistant professor of theatre at Westminster College, will present Faculty Forum Wednesday, Sept. 24, at 11:30 a.m. in the McKelvey Campus Center.

"Doughboys to GIs to Grunts: American Infantrymen in Dramatic Literature," examines the representation of American infantrymen in selected dramatic literature published between 1924-1985.

"Questions concerning the factors that draw men to combat, and whether dramatists have led or followed public opinion are considered throughout," Mackenzie said. "Until Vietnam, dramatists usually followed public opinion, but were leaders in questioning the necessity of war following hostilities."

Faculty forum, established in 1990, serves as a venue for the exchange of ideas and information among Westminster College faculty. Speakers present their research, teaching ideas, lectures, performances, special programs, and uses of technology to keep faculty informed about the work of colleagues from many disciplines.

Mackenzie, who has been with Westminster College since 2001, earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas, his master's from Michigan State University, and his Ph.D. from Wayne State University.
