Newman scholar to speak at Westminster

NEW WILMINGTON, PA – Dr. Ryan “Bud” Marr, director of the National Institute of Newman Studies (NINS), will be the featured speaker at the first annual John Henry Newman Speaker Series at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 23, in Wallace Memorial Chapel on the Westminster College campus.

A Newman scholar and published author, Marr’s research interests also include ecclesiology, ecumenism, and the reception of Vatican II. Since 2017, he has served as the director of the NINS, which facilitates scholarly learning and dialogue on the enduring relevance of John Henry Newman's life, work and influence to foster intellectual and spiritual growth.

The John Henry Newman Speaker Series is designed to promote faith and Catholicism on campus. John Henry Newman was the 19th-century's most important English-speaking Roman Catholic theologian.
