Theta Chi fraternity is sponsoring a "Greek Sweep" for the borough of New Wilmington Saturday, Sept. 27, beginning at 10 a.m.

More 120 Westminster College fraternity and sorority members will meet at Theta Chi Fraternity House to get their team assignments.

"We will be sweeping sidewalks, picking up trash, and pulling weeds from sidewalks," said Craig Carlin, public relations/philanthropy chair of Theta Chi fraternity, and senior art major from McKeesport. "We will be covering the borough of New Wilmington residential streets and main roads. Each team will have a map of the section of town they are to cover."

Once the work is done, the Greeks will return to Theta Chi house for a picnic.

"Pizza Joe's is donating 10 pizzas, and Phi Mu sorority is making food," Carlin continued. "Ten other businesses in town donated supplies and cash for the event."

Beginning Sept. 29, Theta Chi will also be selling tickets to a "Suitcase Party" during lunch at dinner. Students, faculty, staff, as well as local residents are encouraged to buy a $10 ticket to a party scheduled Nov. 13 at the McKelvey Campus Center. At this party, the winner of a trip for two to Florida Nov. 14-17 will be announced at midnight. The winner will be taken by limousine to the airport to begin the four-day, three-night stay in Florida, so the winner must be packed and present at the party. All money raised, after expenses will be donated to the American Red Cross.
