NEW WILMINGTON, PA – Westminster College recent graduate Troy Jackson '18 has earned an Emmy nomination for his student-produced “Ghost Witch – Mary Black,” a documentary investigating the facts and fiction behind a Western Pennsylvania ghost story.

The Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences nominated Jackson’s documentary in the College/University Student Production – Short Form category for his piece produced for the Westminster Cable Network (WCN).

Bradley Weaver, lecturer of broadcast communication at Westminster College, also received a nomination for his role as faculty adviser to the project.

“Ghost Witch – Mary Black” examines the local folklore of Mary Black, an alleged Lawrence County witch who died in 1888. According to legend, Black’s ghost continues to haunt a wooded area outside of New Castle.

Jackson, who earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in May, served as the producer, director, researcher and cinematographer of the documentary.

A WCN news package about Jackson’s nomination, produced by senior Connor White, can be viewed at https://vimeo.com/292162932.

The College/University Production winners will be announced as part of the Mid-Atlantic Emmy Awards ceremony at the Philadelphia Marriott on Oct. 13.
