NEW WILMINGTON, PA – The Carillon Summer Concert Series at Westminster College will welcome three guest carillonneurs to perform on the College’s 42-bell carillon in July and August.

The series will open with a performance by carillonneur Jim Fackenthal on Friday, July 20. Fackenthal performs regularly on the Crane Carillon at St. Chrysostom’s Church in Chicago, the Millennium Carillon in Naperville, Ill., and the Butz Carillon at the Chicago Botanic Gardens.

Gordon Slater will perform on Friday, July 27. As the former Dominion carillonneur of Canada, Slater played the Peace Tower Carillon at the Houses of Parliament in Ottawa for 31 years.

Carlo van Ulft will be the featured carillonneur on Friday, Aug. 3. Van Ulft is the director and carilloneur of the Thomas Rees Memorial Carillon in Springfield, Ill.

All concerts begin at noon and are free and open to the public. Seating is on the Quad lawn outside of Old Main. Audience members are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and lunch to enjoy during the concerts.

One of only 55 college carillons nationwide, Westminster’s bells are an integral part of campus life. In addition to chiming every quarter hour daily, they are played regularly by Paula Kubik, Westminster organist.
