Senior public relations major Holly Marshall's theater career has come full circle as she assistant directs the New Castle Playhouse's production of “The Lion King Jr.” Marshall will help direct 47 school age performers starring in the junior edition of the Disney classic that has captivated hearts of many since its theater debut 1994, and later on Broadway.

“I absolutely love kids and theater. Getting to work with both of those at the same time is so much fun,” she said. “Just seeing these kids that have never been on stage before shine onstage is so rewarding.”

This is Marshall’s first time helping direct, and she hopes to continue this role in the near future. Long term, her goal is to open her own community theater so that she can allow more people of all ages to experience the industry, firsthand.

“It is important to get young people involved because it teaches them responsibility, discipline, respect, and commitment,” she said. “Those are things that they can carry with them throughout the rest of their lives.”

Marshall made her theater debut playing a munchkin in the "The Wizard of Oz" at the New Castle Playhouse nearly 14 years ago. She was enchanted by the idea of performing in front of a crowd and now mentors children to fulfill the same dreams she chased years ago.
