Westminster students enrolled in the Handbuilding Ceramics and Contemporary Crafts courses this spring have their artwork displayed as part of the exhibition, "Social Objects", at c3: initiative gallery in Portland, OR. The exhibition takes place during the National Council on Education in the Ceramic Arts conference that runs March 23 until April 14.

Social Objects is an exhibit that includes works 14 members of the Socially Engaged Craft Collective (SECC), including Westminster faculty Summer Zickefoose who coordinated the event along with SECC. The exhibit highlights the intersection of socially engaged art and the ceramic medium. Students in the two classes were paired up to collaborate on memorial tiles and embroideries.

According to c3: initiative, “[SECC] aims to promote artists and to expose other artists, educators, and those who are interested to the wide spectrum of socially engaged craft”.
