Westminster College Christian fellowship group, Seekers, recently took part in a project alongside Operation Christmas Child (OCC) to send shoe boxes full of gifts to children in over 100 different countries in Eastern Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America.

“OCC is a mission project run by an international non-profit called Samaritan's Purse,” said Rachel Lemke, a senior Christian education major from Harborcreek. “Children from all over the world receive these wrapped shoeboxes that contain toys, hygiene products, articles of clothing...and along with each box, the children take some courses that teach them about God and the love of Jesus Christ.”

The Seekers have taken part in this project for the past four years. This year, they collected enough donations to send 13 boxes to children in need. Lemke has “talked with people who have seen firsthand how much the small shoebox Christmas gift has helped children change their lives.”  She says her “only prayer is that God's will be done through our time and offering and the love put into these shoeboxes.”
