The Westminster College Department of Chemistry will host Dr. Kasey Kovalcik for the ninth annual Ken and Nancy Long Chemistry Lecture at 7 p.m. Nov. 10, in the Lakeview Room located in McKelvey Campus Center. The event is free and open to the public.

Kovalcik’s lecture is titled, “Analytical Challenges of Measuring Public Exposure Through Multimedia: Air, Water, Plants.”

During his lecture, Kovalcik will present the sampling and analysis challenges in doing exposure studies involving wildfire smoke, near-road sources, nano-materials, and epiphytic moss.

Kovalcik is an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) chemist with a background in academia, methods development in a clinical lab, and almost 10 years of research experience at EPA.

The lecture series is funded by Dr. Ken Long, Westminster emeritus professor of chemistry, and his wife, Nancy, to invite chemists to speak with students on campus.
