Dr. Robert Zorn, Westminster College’s director of graduate school and coordinator for educational leadership programs, is the author of “Coming in 2017: A New Generation of Graduate Students- The Z Generation,” an article that will be published in the winter quarterly issue of College and University.

College and University is “an educational policy and research journal focusing on emerging concerns, new techniques, and technology in education.”

Zorn’s article explains who the Z generation is and addresses some of the challenges that teaching this new generation of students will bring to graduate programs. The article also highlights differences between millennial and generation Z graduate students.

“The Z generation refers to those 23 million students born after 1995,” Zorn said. “The technology abilities and experiences of the Z generation are far beyond their predecessors of the Y generation students who are just graduating.”

Zorn has been at Westminster since 1986. He earned his bachelor’s in education from Kent State University, a master's in education from Westminster, and a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh.
