Westminster College’s mathematics, computer science, computer information systems, physics and engineering physics programs hosted their annual spring recognition and awards banquet, March 22.

16 students received awards based on faculty judgment in the areas of strong academic record, enthusiasm for major subject, and participation in program events.

“The spring honors banquet is a celebration for both faculty and students,” said Dr. Carolyn Cuff, professor and program coordinator for mathematics. “Faculty encourage and mentor students in many ways so this is our way of sharing our students’ success.”

Dr. Terri Lenox, professor of computer science and mathematics, Dr. John Bonomo, professor of computer science, Cuff, Dr. Rob Knop, associate professor of physics, Dr. David Offner, associate professor of mathematics, and Dr. Pamela Richardson, associate professor of mathematics, attended the banquet.

“We faculty members get to know our students very well at Westminster College, especially within our own programs,” said Richardson. “When you have a student multiple times across several years, you really see them grow as both scholars and human beings. It is exciting to watch this development, and very rewarding to know that you might have somehow contributed to their success.”
