Westminster College to Celebrate Homecoming, October 2, 3, and 4

Members of the Westminster College community are counting down the days until students, past and present, return to campus for 2015 Homecoming festivitiesOctober 2-4

Friday, October 2 at 3 p.m., Westminster will host Tea with the Books in McGill Library, featuring Dr. James A. Perkins, professor of English emeritus. At 6 p.m., Westminster will celebrate Philip G. Petraglia ’83, Jonathan P. Bigley ’84, David R. Nobs ’80, and Benjamin T. Nelson ’06 during the distinguished alumni awards reception and dinner in Witherspoon rooms, McKelvey Campus Center.

On Saturday, October 3 at 10:30 a.m., Westminster invites the community to join in the Market Street festivities during the annual Homecoming parade. This year, sororities, fraternities and other student organizations will compete in the “Best Float” competition, dressing themselves and their floats in a “cities” theme. The Westminster Titan Marching Band, Wilmington Area High School Marching Band, local scout troops, and other local community groups and businesses will also participate. 

At 12:20 p.m., Westminster will celebrate the conclusion of the Ever Higher Campaign with an ice cream social, applauding all who provided gifts during the eight-year campaign. The football game will kick-off against the Carnegie Mellon Tartans at 1 p.m. at Memorial Field.

On Sunday, October 4 at 9:30 a.m., Westminster’s Field Station will host a memorial walk at the Sandy Edmiston Memorial Labyrinth

Other Homecoming activities include campus tours, class reunions and luncheons, and special music by J.D. Eicher ’09 and Ben Portz ’10 at the Young Alumni Social Saturday afternoon.
