The Westminster College Alumni Association’s Alumni Council started their year fresh in July by welcoming members into new leadership roles.

“The Westminster connection is important to all who have experienced it – and it holds a special place in my life,” said James (Jim) Giel ’74, newly elected president of the Alumni Association. “This is the place where I grew personally and professionally and gained insight and knowledge from the liberal arts perspective. It’s where I met life-long friends who have enriched my family’s lives and mine.”

Doug Hill ’76 was elected to serve as the vice president. Brian Petrus ’10, instructor and program coordinator in the School of Business, will serve as faculty and staff representative, replacing Jesse Ligo, instructor and chair of the School of Business, whose term ended June 30.

“Alumni Council is an important connection between the College and our alumni, whether a current student, a recent graduate or a graduate for over 70 years,” said Giel. “Through my term as president of the Alumni Association, I hope to continue fostering the Westminster connection by providing our alumni with the opportunity to be good stewards of their time, talent and treasure so that we can continue to offer students with resources to grow, learn and experience all that Westminster has to offer.”
