Westminster College Welcomes New Vice President of Institutional Advancement, Matt Stinson, to Campus

After a nation-wide search, Westminster College welcomes Matthew P. Stinson as vice president for institutional advancement, beginning today.

Mr. Stinson joins Westminster after serving a six-year tenure as director of university advancement at the University of Mount Union, his undergraduate alma mater. Among his list of achievements was guiding his team through an 18-month, $25 million campaign for construction and renovation of campus buildings. He worked closely to improve infrastructure and guided the alumni relations, annual fund, major gifts, planned giving, research, and stewardship staff to average over $10 million in gifts each year. He also served as a curriculum co-establisher and adjunct faculty member for introductory and capstone courses in Mount Union’s entrepreneurship program.

Dorman, Westminster’s president. “Matt’s skill sets are ideally suited to helping Westminster build its overall outreach efforts and capacity for securing the necessary philanthropic gifts to elevate the College in important ways.  We wish him much success.”

Prior to his positions at Mount Union, Mr. Stinson was the executive director of the Oaks Foundation in Ohio, where he was in charge of all aspects of fundraising efforts, including annual fund, major gifts, planned and estate gifts, events, and communications. Previous to his position at the Oaks Foundation, he held positions in software start-up ventures at divine Interventures, OpinionWare, and PLATINUM Technology, where he served in various capacities of fundraising, program development, positioning, management, and sales.

Apart from his career ventures, Mr. Stinson’s volunteer and community involvement includes: board president, East Ohio United Methodist Foundation; co-founder and board president, Alliance Community Pantry; vice-chair, Technology Accelerator Alliance; baseball coach, Alliance Hot Stove team; basketball coach, Little Dukes; and more.

Mr. Stinson received a bachelor of science degree with honors in computer science from the University Mount Union and received a master of business administration degree with a focus in entrepreneurship from Jones International University.
