Upcoming Student Environmental Symposium

Posted on Wednesday, November 26, 2014

The Westminster College Environmental Program will host its 7th annual Student Environmental Symposium, Thursday, December 4 from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the McKelvey Campus Center. The event, sponsored by the Environmental Programs at Westminster College and the Slippery Rock Watershed Coalition, is free and open to the public.

Networking and poster presentations are from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Witherspoon Rooms, and oral presentations will be given from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in Mueller Theater. New this year, oral presentations will be webcast and available for live viewing and archived at www.wcnlive.com. Participating in the event are students from Westminster College, Geneva College, Slippery Rock University, and Robert Morris University.

"This is a great opportunity for students to showcase their environmental work and to practice their oral communication skills," shares Dr. Helen Boylan, Westminster associate professor of chemistry. "We encourage environmental professionals and community members to come network with the students, learn about the cool environmental research that is going on, and to simply support Westminster students."

The symposium was organized by Boylan; Leslie Watson, secretary for the Environmental Programs office; Cliff Denholm from BioMost, Inc., and Will Taylor from Jennings Environmental Education Center.
