Westminster College Associate Political Science Professor Edits and Contributes to Text on Post-Soviet States

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Dr. Michael Aleprete, Westminster College associate professor of political science, recently contributed two chapters and edited a text published by Lexington Books. Dr. Aleprete co-edited the volume with Rachel Vanderhill from Wheaton College. 

International Dimensions of Authoritarian Persistence: Lessons from Post-Soviet States explores how international factors interact with domestic conditions to explain the persistence of authoritarianism throughout the region. The volume includes chapters on Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, South Ossetia, Ukraine, Moldova, and Belarus, as well as two chapters on the Russian Federation, one of which was authored by Dr. Aleprete.

Aleprete, who joined the faculty in 2007, earned an undergraduate degree from Duquesne University and master's degree and Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh.
