NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College Celebrity Series will present A Chorus Line Tuesday, March 5, at 7:30 p.m. in Orr Auditorium. Pittsburgh native Andrea Weinzierl is cast as a cut dancer/line cover in the performance.
Weinzierl is on her national tour debut. She is a current musical theatre/dance major at Point Park University and has performed with the Pittsburgh Symphony under the baton of Marvin Hamlisch. Weinzierl received the 2010 Gene Kelly Best Actress Award (Mame) and competed in the National High School Musical Theatre Awards (Marquis Theatre).
She is also a substitute teacher at Pittsburgh's Civic Light Opera (CLO) where she teaches musical theatre, ballet, tap and jazz.
Visit www.andreaweinzierl.com for additional information.
Two Point Park University alumni, Jordan Haskins and Jereme Rodriguez are on tour as well.
A Chorus Line is a tribute to the late Marvin Hamlisch, who composed the score for the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize-winning production and appeared at Westminster during the Celebrity Series' 1997 season.
The story of 17 dancers vying for the make-or-break opportunity of appearing in the chorus line of a Broadway musical resonates with everyone who has had a dream and risked everything for it.
A Chorus Line has had many productions worldwide and was revived on Broadway in 2006. It still ranks as the sixth longest-running show in Broadway history.
Tickets, starting at $33, are available from the Celebrity Series box office at (724) 946-7354. Visit www.westminster.edu/celebrity for additional information.
