Posted on Friday, September 14, 2012

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Westminster College will award Alumni Citations to Rev. Lora Annette Adams-King, Bethann Hervey Dolan and Dr. Donald McKim at the annual Distinguished Alumni Dinner on Friday, Sept. 28, at 6 p.m. in the John S. Witherspoon Room of the McKelvey Campus Center.

The Westminster College Alumni Citations were created to recognize alumni who achieved significant accomplishments in their profession or made meaningful contributions to the community or Westminster.

Rev. Lora Annette Adams-King '00, M'07 has devoted her life to serving others as an educator and pastor. She is the superintendent of the Farrell Area School District, where she was an elementary teacher before being promoted to principal of Farrell High School in 2008. She also spent a decade as pastor of Erie Street Church of God in Franklin and serves on many boards and committees in the Shenango Valley.

Bethann Hervey Dolan '91 embodies the Westminster College mission through her courage, strength, resiliency and desire to help others. In addition to being a teacher, she is active serving the congregation and community of Elfinwild Presbyterian Church. In 2006, she was stricken with transverse myelitis, a rare sudden-onset neurological disorder that left her a quadriplegic. With the help of family, friends, and her church, Bethann has returned to the classroom as an elementary math teacher in the Hampton School District and inspires students with life lessons about persistence and not letting setbacks keep you down.

Dr. Donald McKim '71 is one of the most distinguished scholars and authors in the field of Reformed theology. He is executive editor for theology and reference for Westminster John Knox Press in Tennessee and is the author or co-author of 14 books, including The Authority and Interpretation of the Bible: An Historical Approach that was selected Book of the Year by Eternity magazine and named one of the five best books in religion in the 1980 American Book Awards. He has also edited numerous books and published over 60 articles and book reviews, and served on the faculties of six seminaries and colleges.

Reservations are required. Please contact the alumni office by Sept. 21 at (724) 946-7364 or email.
