Westminster College Art Gallery to Host Opening August 29

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Westminster College's Department of Communication Studies, Theatre and Art will host an opening Wednesday, Aug. 29, from 4-5:30 p.m. at the Art Gallery in Patterson Hall. The event is free and open to the public.

This inaugural exhibition in the new art gallery will feature artwork by Peggy Cox, professor of art; Kurt Roscoe, assistant professor of media art; and Summer Zickefoose, visiting assistant professor of art and gallery director.  The exhibition will include paintings, drawings, and sculpture. The artists will give brief talks about their work at 4:30 during the opening.

The exhibition will run Aug. 27 - Sept 21.  The Art Gallery is open Monday - Friday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.  The Art Gallery hosts six exhibits annually, one of which is the student/ senior exhibit in March. Regional, national, and international artists are also brought to campus for exhibits and lectures.

Cox specializes in painting, drawing and digital photography. She has been with Westminster since 1985, and earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Louisville and master's degree from the University of Pennsylvania.

Roscoe specializes in graphic design, advertising, digital photography and digital video. He joined Westminster in 2010, and earned an undergraduate degree from Youngstown State University and master's degree from Kent State University.

Zickefoose specializes in sculpture, ceramics, installation art, and performance art. She joined the faculty in 2010, and earned undergraduate degrees from The University of Iowa and master's degree from The University of Florida.
