Music Department to Present New Music Concerts

The Westminster College Department of Music will present "Voices from Within III: Celebration of New Music" Sunday, April 22, at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. in Orr Auditorium.  The concert is free and open to the public.

Westminster students presenting their original compositions are:
   • Tricia Glorioso, "Forest Canopy"
   • Tim Lane, "Deep"
   • Jerianne Larson, "Concert Suite"
   • Cody Ortz, "Piano Ballad" and "The Woman and the Wolf"
   • Leaha Parady, "Chagrin"
   • Anthony Pezzelle, "I Want to Die While You Love Me" and "Blow, Blow, Thou Winter Wind"
   • Timmy Skero, "Christina"

Students assisting with the performance are: Laura Chambers on violin; Lauren Clauser on flute; Kyle Grabigel on tuba; Pezzelle on piano; soprano Anne Rematt; John Stumpff on clarinet; and Tommy Walters on piano. 

Program selections by Westminster faculty composers are "Piano Sonata" by Dr. Jason Howard, visiting assistant professor of music, and "Toccata" and "A Scottish Triptych" by Dr. Daniel Perttu, assistant professor of music and coordinator of the music theory program.

Westminster music faculty performers include: Dr. Nancy Zipay DeSalvo, associate professor, on piano; Howard on cello; Dr. Melinda Crawford Perttu, assistant professor, on violin; and adjunct faculty David Tessmer on flute.

Guest composers Dr. Federico Garcia of Chatham College and Dr. Robert Rollin of Youngstown State University and featured guest composer Dr. Kirk O'Riordan of Lafayette College will share their compositions.

Guest performers are duoARtia, a piano duo of Dr. Jeri-Mae Astolfi of the University of Wisconsin at Oshkosh and Dr. Holly Roadfelt-O'Riordan of Lafayette College.
