Symphony Orchestra to Present Winter Concert Feb. 19

The Westminster College Symphony Orchestra will present its winter concert Sunday, Feb. 19, at 3 p.m. in Orr Auditorium.  The concert is free and open to the public.

The program will include: Schubert's "Overture to Des Teufels Lustschloss" and "Serenade No. 1" by Brahms.

Westminster faculty in the orchestra are Dr. Larry Miller, associate professor of chemistry, on timpani and Dr. Daniel Perttu, assistant professor of music, on bassoon.

The Orchestra is under the direction of Dr. Melinda Crawford Perttu, Westminster assistant professor of music, who joined the faculty full time in August.  She earned an undergraduate degree from Duquesne University and master's degree and Ph.D. from Ohio State University.  She has studied Gaelic, fiddling, and fiddle pedagogy at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig in Scotland.
