Music Department to Host Jazz Vocalist for Masterclass and Concert

Westminster College's Department of Music will host jazz vocalist Kathy Kosins for a masterclass and concert Friday, Feb. 10.
The 7:30 p.m. concert will be held in the Berlin Student Lounge of McKelvey Campus Center. It is free and open to the public. In addition to Kosins, the program will include performances by the Westminster Faculty Jazz Quartet - adjunct music faculty Mark Antonich (guitar), Jeff Bremer (bass), Perry Gatch (drums), and Jeff Wachter (piano) - and the Westminster Jazz Ensemble under the direction of adjunct music faculty Robert Matchett and Kevin McManus.
The Jazz Ensemble program will include: Mark Taylor's arrangement of "Day by Day;" Don Schamber's arrangement of "Time after Time;" Dave Wolpe's arrangement of "Just Friends;" "I Was There," featuring senior Aaron McAfee on tenor saxophone; Bob Mintzer's arrangement of Gershwin's "But Not for Me," featuring senior Rob Marra on trumpet; and Bob Mintzer's "Computer," featuring seniors Shawn Sisler on alto saxophone and Deanna Nebel on tenor saxophone.
Kosins is an ASCAP award-winning vocalist, songwriter, record producer, and recognized modern abstractionist painter who has been featured in festivals, performing arts series, and clubs across the country.
Her newest CD, To the Ladies of Cool, celebrates the artistry of Anita O'Day, June Christy, Chris Connor, and Julie London. It is set for release in March.
