College Adds Nine New Full-Time Faculty

Westminster College recently added nine new full-time faculty members.
Dr. Michael Bowen, visiting assistant professor of history, earned an undergraduate degree in public relations and history and master's degree in history from East Tennessee State University and Ph.D. in American history from the University of Florida. Dr. Alison DuBois, assistant professor of education, earned an undergraduate degree in elementary education from John Carroll University, master's degree in counselor education from Westminster College, and Ph.D. in counselor education and supervision from Duquesne University. She has teaching experience at Woodridge Local (Ohio) School District, Westminster College, Duquesne University, and Butler Community College; professional experience at Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV; and clinical experience with Comprehensive Children and Family Services. Terry Jachimiak, assistant professor of theatre, earned an undergraduate degree in technical theatre from Longwood University and a master's degree in scenic design from Wayne State University. He comes to Westminster from Lynchburg (Va.) College, where he was assistant professor of theatre, and has additional teaching experience at Brevard (N.C.) College. His show credits include scenic, lighting, and costume design; director; props master; scenic artist; and technical director for numerous theaters and festivals. Dr. Leslie Kealhofer, visiting assistant professor of French, earned an undergraduate degree in French and political science from the University of Notre Dame and master's degree in French literature and Ph.D. in French from Florida State University. Jamie Kohler, assistant professor/assistant librarian, earned an undergraduate degree in English and history from Juniata College, master's degree in library and information science from the University of Pittsburgh, and is pursuing a master's degree in creative writing at Chatham University. She comes to Westminster from Robert Morris University, where she was a reference librarian, and has library experience at West Chester University, Chatham University, and the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Robin McGovern, assistant professor of psychology, earned an undergraduate degree in psychology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and Ph.D. in neuroscience from the Medical University of South Carolina. She comes to Westminster from the Medical University of South Carolina, where she was a postdoctoral scholar in its Center for Drug and Alcohol Programs, and has additional experience at Claflin (S.C.) Dr. Melinda Crawford Perttu, assistant professor of music, earned an undergraduate degree in music education from Duquesne University's Mary Pappert School of Music, Ph.D. in music education from The Ohio State University, and has studied Gaelic, fiddling, and fiddle pedagogy at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig in Scotland. She has served as adjunct music faculty and director of orchestra at Westminster since 2009 and has additional teaching experience in Loyalsock Township and Williamsport Area school districts and Calvert County (Md.) and Fairfax County (Va.) public schools. Dr. Veronica Porterfield, visiting assistant professor of biology, earned an undergraduate degree in biology from Westminster College and Ph.D. in cell and molecular biology from Kent State University. Dr. André Wehner, visiting assistant professor of physics, earned an undergraduate degree in physics with a minor in mathematics from Humboldt-Universität (Berlin, Germany), master's degree in physics from Idaho State University, and Ph.D. in mathematical physics from Utah State University. He comes to Westminster from the University of Alaska Southeast and has additional teaching experience at Utah State, Centre College of Kentucky, and Bucks County Community College.
