College to Host "Daughters of Cambodia"

Posted on Tuesday, September 6, 2011

Westminster College will host "Daughters of Cambodia" Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 8 p.m. in the Berlin Lounge of the McKelvey Campus Center.  The program is free and open to the public.

"Daughters of Cambodia" is a video and live music presentation by Leslie Sanazaro that tells the stories of women and children who have been enslaved and forced into prostitution in Cambodia.

Sanazaro and her husband, writer and photographer Alexis Santi, traveled in Cambodia to document the human trafficking and meet with organizations that work with girls struggling to recover from sexual slavery.  The proceeds from the album Daughters of Cambodia will directly benefit Cambodian girls and the organizations that support them.

The program is sponsored by Westminster's Sociology Interest Group, Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice Studies, and Department of Political Science.
