College Announces New Celebrity Series Director and Box Office Manager

Posted on Monday, August 22, 2011

Westminster College recently announced the promotion of Connie McGinnis to director of Celebrity Series and the hiring of Georgene Gib as Celebrity Series box office manager.

McGinnis joined Westminster in 1993 and was a receptionist in Admissions for four years before moving to the Celebrity Series office.  Prior to coming to Westminster, she was assistant director of alumni relations at Carnegie Mellon University and previously held positions as production/circulation manager for Bostonia magazine at Boston University; coordinator of emergency medicine programs at the University of Massachusetts Medical School; and secretary to the provost at Youngstown (Ohio) State University.

"The most rewarding part of my job is seeing audience members smiling and happy after a show," McGinnis said.  "I especially enjoy introducing a new artist who may be an ‘unknown' to many patrons, but who quickly becomes a favorite."

McGinnis earned an undergraduate degree from Youngstown State University.  She lives in New Wilmington with her husband Bob and daughters Grace and Anna.

Gib began two years ago as a fill-in when the Celebrity Series needed extra help.  When McGinnis was promoted to director, Gib assumed the position as box office manager.  A native of nearby Ellwood City, she started as a teller at the former First National Bank of Lawrence County and advanced to supervisor in consumer loan servicing, leaving after nearly four decades.

Gib, who now resides in New Wilmington, is excited about her new position: "This is a new direction for me, but I enjoy meeting new people and delivering good customer service."

The 2011-2012 Celebrity Series season kicks off with "An Evening with Colin Mochrie and Brad Sherwood" (Sept. 24), followed by Debby Boone (Oct. 20), John Tesh Big Band Christmas (Dec. 16), The Texas Tenors (March 24, 2012), and Ricky Nelson Remembered (April 27).  A special family show, The Golden Dragon Acrobats (May 9), is available by single-show ticket only and is not included in the season subscription.

Season subscriptions and single-show tickets are available by calling (724) 946-7354 or online at www.westminster.edu/celebrity.
