English Professor Emerita Published in Literature Collection

Posted on Wednesday, August 3, 2011

Dr. Elizabeth Ford, Westminster College professor of English emerita, authored an essay that was included in a recently-published literature collection.

Ford's article, "H/Z: Why Leslea Newman Makes Heather into Zoe," was included in Over the Rainbow: Queer Children's and Young Adult Literature.  The collection was edited by Michelle Ann Abate and Kenneth Kidd and published by The University of Michigan Press.

"I wrote the essay in 1995 about the differences between the protagonists in Newman's controversial children's book, Heather has Two Mommies (1989), and her next, more conventional work, also for children, Too Far Away to Touch (2005)," Ford said.

Ford, who was with Westminster for 16 years, earned undergraduate and master's degrees from Youngstown State University and a Ph.D. from Kent State University.
