Music Education Major to Present Capstone Recital Oct. 31

Sarah Ortz, a Westminster College senior music education major, will present her capstone horn recital Sunday, Oct. 31, at noon in Orr Auditorium. The program is free and open to the public.

The program includes Mozart's "Horn Concerto No. 3, K 447;" Strauss' "Concerto No. 1 in E-flat maor, op.11;" and "Hunter's Moon" by Vinter. Ortz will be accompanied on piano by Dr. Nancy Zipay DeSalvo, Westminster associate professor of music.

Ortz is a daughter of William and Connie Ortz of Petersburg, Ohio, and a graduate of Springfield Local High School.

At Westminster, Ortz is a section leader in Marching Band, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble and is a member of Brass Quintet, Woodwind Quintet, Horn Ensemble, Horn Quartet, and Woodwind Trio. She has been involved in Opera Westminster, Intercollegiate Honors Band, Women's Chorus, Concert Choir, and will play in the pit orchestra for the fall musical. During her first year at Westminster, Ortz won the Concerto and Aria Competition. She is a member of Kappa Delta Sorority, Mu Phi Epsilon music honor fraternity, Students in Free Enterprise, Seekers, and the Warren Philharmonic Orchestra.

Ortz is from the horn studio of Rob Cole, Westminster adjunct music faculty.
