Peace Studies Coffeehouse to Host Speaker on Children's Homelessness

Westminster College's Peace Studies Coffeehouse will host Wendy Kinnear for a presentation on children's homelessness Monday, March 22, from 4:15-5:30 p.m. in the Sebastian Mueller Theater of the McKelvey Campus Center. The event is free and open to the public.

Kinnear will discuss the growing population of homeless families in the region, as well as the McKinney Vento Federal Education Act and its implications for homeless children attending public schools.

As the regional coordinator of Pennsylvania's Homeless Children's Initiative, Kinnear is responsible for 70 school districts in northwestern Pennsylvania. She is a member of the Pennsylvania Homeless Advisory Task Force; End Hunger Regional Task Force; the Homeless Teen Task Force in Venango County; Adolescents in Transition in McKean County; and the Local Housing Options Task Force for Butler, Lawrence, and Mercer counties.
