Theatre Westminster will present Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice April 30-May 3 in Beeghly Theater. This will be the final production of the academic year.

Curtain time Thursday-Saturday is 7:30 p.m.; Sunday's matinee is at 2:30 p.m. Reservations can be made online by following the "ticket reserve" link at www.westminster.edu/drama or by calling the Box Office at (724) 946-7241. Prices for general admission adults are $7, and senior citizens and non-Westminster students are $5.

In this classic of English literature adapted for the stage by Christina Calvit, the clever Elizabeth Bennett and the proud Mr. Darcy must transcend the conventions of their class-conscious society and their own mistaken first impressions to build a future together.

The student production is under the direction of Dr. Scott Mackenzie, Westminster associate professor of theatre. He is a certified associate teacher of Fitzmaurice Voicework who has acting experience in film, television, and theatre and has directed over 30 productions.

Dr. Deborah Mitchell, Westminster associate professor of English, will lead "Universal Acknowledgment: The Enduring Popularity of Jane Austen" Sunday, May 3, at 1:30 p.m. in the Sebastian Mueller Theater of the McKelvey Campus Center prior to the matinee. Mitchell and students Amanda Miller and Shannon Richter will share insights into one of England's leading literary figures whose popularity has only increased in the 200 years since she wrote about life in Regency England.
