Religion Professor's Edited Book Translated into Romanian

Posted on Wednesday, April 8, 2009

Changing Religious Worlds: The Meaning and End of Mircea Eliade, edited by Dr. Bryan Rennie, Westminster College Vira I. Heinz Chair in Religion, was recently translated into Romanian by Elena Bortă.

"Although Romanian is a relatively minor Romance language, it is always an honor to see that someone is willing to do the work of translation, and I have the highest respect for Romanian scholarship," Rennie said. "This exposes my work to a broader audience and so allows me to take broader advantage of scholarly response and criticism, which always enriches and improves one's thought."

Rennie, who chairs Westminster's Department of Religion, History, Philosophy and Classics, has been with Westminster since 1992. He earned an undergraduate degree, master's and Ph.D. from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. He has authored four books and numerous articles on Eliade.
