Director of Choral Activities to Participate in "Mucho Macho Music"

Posted on Tuesday, October 28, 2008

Dr. Robin Lind, Westminster College associate professor of music and director of choral activities, will lead a roundtable discussion/interest session at the fifth annual "Mucho Macho Music" festival Nov. 4 at North Hills Junior High School in Ross Township.

Lind's session on recruitment, retention, and repertoire will focus on how to get boys involved, keep them interested, and excite them to be part of a middle school choral program.

Lind, who has been with Westminster since 2000, earned an undergraduate degree from the College of Idaho, master's from the University of Oregon, and Ph.D. from the University of Utah.

The song festival for boys with changing voices in grades six through nine is sponsored by the Southwest Region of the American Choral Directors Association of Pennsylvania. Over the past four years, participation has averaged nearly 125 students from as many as 15 school districts. The event was created by Lind and Shaun Cloonan, a 2000 Westminster graduate and director of the eighth-grade chorus at North Hills.
