Vespers Service to Celebrate Life of Martin Luther King Jr.

A Service of Remembrance and Celebration in honor of the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. will be held Sunday, Jan. 27, at 7 p.m. in Westminster College's Wallace Memorial Chapel. The worship service is open to the public.

Special guest speaker is Wendell G. Freeland, a member of Westminster's board of trustees and an attorney in Allegheny County. He was the first president of the Neighborhood Legal Services Association, chair of the Federal Section of the bar, and a member of the House of Delegates of the Pennsylvania Bar Association.

His community activities include service as president of the Urban League of Pittsburgh, senior vice president of the National Urban League, chairman of the board of governors of the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, and member of the board of trustees of the University of Pittsburgh.

Westminster College faculty and staff participating in the service include the Rev. Jeannette Hubbard, director of the Office of Diversity Services; the Rev. James Mohr, College chaplain; Dr. Sherri Pataki, assistant professor of psychology; and Dr. David Swerdlow, professor of English.

Music will be provided by Westminster's Gospel Choir, under the direction of Manny Henderson, and the Praise Team. Student liturgists will lead the call to worship, prayers, and responsive readings.
