Combined Choruses to Perform Spring Concert

The Westminster College Men's and Women's Choruses will perform a combined concert Wednesday, May 2, at 7:30 p.m. in Wallace Memorial Chapel.

Kris Harper will be directing the Women's Chorus with accompaniment by Sheila Barnhart, a junior music performance major from New Freeport. Dr. Robin Lind will conduct the Men's Chorus with accompaniment by Kevin Shields, a sophomore music education major from Eldred.

The Women's Chamber Ensemble will perform: Whitacre's "Five Hebrew Love Songs;" Mozart's "Dona Nobis Pacem," with flautist Amber Kunder, a senior education and music education major from Poland, Ohio; and Ballard's "Mister Sandman."

The Women's Chorus program will include: Handel's "Music Spread Thy Voice Around;" Bach's "Dearest Lord Jesus;" Childs' "Weep No More;" Foster's "I Dream of Jeanie;" Read's "Birdsong;" Klouse's "Prayer of the Children;" and Kessleman's "Akakomborwerwa."

The Men's Chorus's program will include: Joel's "The Longest Time," with soloist William McCullough, a senior music performance major from DuBois; Walter's "Rise Up, O Men of God;" Rachmaninoff's "All-Night Vigil, Opus 37;" Gesangbuch's "I Sing the Mighty Power of God," with a student brass quintet; and Scholz's "A Red, Red Rose," with violinist Jonathan Moser, instructor of music. Montgomery Service, a sophomore music education major from East Amherst, N.Y., will perform solos in Quick's "Loch Lomond" and Whalum's "Somebody's Calling My Name."

The Combined Choirs will perform Christiansen's "Lost in the Night," and Dandridge's "Witness."
