Alyssa Schomaker, a senior music education major at Westminster College, will perform her soprano vocal recital Friday, April 27, at 8 p.m. in Wallace Memorial Chapel.

Schomaker's program includes Aaron Copland's Twelve Poems of Emily Dickinson, including "Nature, the gentlest mother," "Heart, we will forget him," and "Going to Heaven;" Gabriel Fauré's Au bord de l'eau; Giovanni Pergolesi's "Well, did you ever!" from La Serva Padrona; Clara Schumann's Sechs Lieder, Op. 13 with "Ich stand in dunklen Träumen" and "Der Mond kommt still gegangen;" Jenny Giering's I Follow; and Jerry Bock's "Vanilla Ice Cream" from She Loves Me.

Jeff Wachter, a Westminster College adjunct faculty member, will accompany Schomaker on piano. Laura Swanson, a mezzo-soprano music and English major from Parkman, Ohio, will assist Schomaker in I Follow.

Schomaker, daughter of Jack and Patrice Schomaker of Pittsburgh, is a graduate of Northgate High School. She is from the studio of Janet Kane. During her time at Westminster, she has appeared in three Chapel Dramas: Godspell, Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and Children of Eden. She is also a member of the Symphonic Band and Marching Band, where she plays tuba and serves as treasurer. Schomaker is a member of the Concert ChoirS and toured Spain with the group in January. She is a member of American Choral Directors Association and the treasurer of the Westminster College chapter of Pennsylvania Collegiate Music Educators Association.

The event is free and open to the public. Contact the Westminster College Music Department at (724) 946-7270 for more information.
