Chub Dietz, co-founder of Rainbow Christian Missions, will speak about Kenya at the Westminster College Peace Studies Coffeehouse Wednesday, April 18, at 4:15 p.m. in the Berlin Student Lounge of the McKelvey Campus Center.

Dietz and his wife, Ruth, have organized mission trips and other support activities for Butere, a farming village located in the western region of Kenya. This village struggles to provide food, clothing and security for the families. AIDS has left many children parentless, and tainted water supplies, limited food, and non-existing medical care have resulted in malaria and other diseases. Most children do not attend school because of the fees necessary to attend, but those who do sit on dirt floors without textbooks, desks, or other supplies.

The Dietz family established a nonprofit charitable organization, Rainbow Christian Missions, in 2005 which is dedicated to helping Butere and others in need in western Kenya. They have established a health clinic, a school, and a child sponsorship program that allows over 230 children to attend school. Soon they hope to open an orphanage.

This event is free and open to the public. Contact Dr. Sherri Pataki, Westminster College assistant professor of psychology, at (724) 946-7361 or e-mail patakisp@westminster.edu for more information.
