Westminster College offers Yoga and Pilates classes in two sessions, Oct. 16-Nov.17 and Nov. 27-Dec. 15.
Vinyasa Yoga classes, a form of yoga in which each pose flows into the next in coordination with the breath, are offered Mondays in Russell Hall. The postures are well placed and lead to a balanced, complete feeling at the end of practice. The class is taught by Ingela Gabrielson, who has been in the fitness industry for about 17 years. She is certified through Yogafit 1 and 2 and is currently studying through The Yoga Alliance for her 200 hours certificate. She is also a certified personal trainer through The American Council on Exercise.
Pilates classes are offered Thursdays from 6-7 p.m. in the Russell Hall, and feature a complete workout exercising not just the main muscle groups, but weaker, less-used muscles, too. The class is taught by Ruthi Barber, who has over 22 years of experience in Pilates, and is also a massage therapist.
Continuing Education classes and seminars are non-credit and are open to all interested individuals. Formal admission to Westminster College is not required. Westminster offers a special price to those who "bring a friend."
