Professor to Discuss Fulbright China Seminar

Posted on Wednesday, October 4, 2006

Dr. Amy Camardese, Westminster assistant professor of education, will discuss the "Fulbright China Seminar" at Faculty Forum Wednesday, Oct. 11, at 11:40 a.m. in the Sebastian Mueller Theater in the McKelvey Campus Center.

Camardese earned a Fulbright Scholarship for a five-week study tour of China last summer.

"I went to study Chinese higher education, which I found does not compare to ours," Camardese said. "In China, they lecture in colleges, where we have a more hands-on type of learning. A degree from a college here is a status symbol there, but then most graduates do not want to return to China."

Faculty Forum, established in 1990, serves as a venue for the exchange of ideas and information among Westminster College faculty. Speakers present their research, teaching ideas, lectures, performances, special programs, and uses of technology to keep faculty informed about the work of colleagues from many disciplines.

The event is free and open to the public. Contact Camardese at (724) 946-7183 or e-mail mailto:camardah@westminster.edu for more information.
