David M. Bailey, Christian music artist and cancer survivor, will perform at Westminster College Saturday, Sept. 7 at 8:30 p.m. in Beeghly Theater.

Bailey, who has been called a "prophet with a guitar" and a "walking miracle," was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor in July of 1996, and told he would be dead by Christmas. He decided to quit his corporate job and play the guitar. While undergoing treatment, he also began a new journey of faith. Since then he has given over 300 concerts in 39 states, made seven albums, and is cancer free.

His songs, influenced by Jim Croce, James Taylor, Kahlil Gibran and J.S. Bach, have won several awards, and his remarkable story has been covered by newspapers across the country, as well as 48 Hours, 60 Minutes and others.

This performance is the beginning of a three-part series in the Religious Life Symposium, which celebrates the Westminster College Sesquicentennial.
