Dr. David Gray, professor of psychology at Westminster College, has authored Bows of the World published by The Lyons Press, Guilford, Conn.

"I take the reader on a bird's eye view of select samples of outstanding traditional archery achievements from pre-history to modern times," said Gray. "My vocation of social and organizational psychology and my avocation of archery are closely intertwined in this work. The research and writing has taken me down the paths of archeology, anthropology, and history as well as very psychological topics of human and animal behavior, intelligence, creativity, attitudes, aesthetics, and intergroup behavior.

"Another lifelong interest of mine is horses, and I encountered this delight again in tracing the domestication of these great animals, the eventual riding of them, and then the development of mounted archery. It has been a thrilling journey for me, and I hope the readers will catch some of the excitement," Grey said.

Gray, who has been with Westminster College since 1976, earned his undergraduate degree from Westminster College, his master's from the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, and his Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh.
