Westminster College to Commemorate Sept. 11

Westminster College plans to commemorate the tragedy Sept. 11 tragedy with a special chapel service, red, white and blue ribbons, and patriotic music on Titan radio.

Titan radio, 88.9 FM, plans special a tribute song at the top of every hour beginning at 8 a.m. and continuing until midnight. At 8:46 a.m. President R. Thomas Williamson will present live remarks. Following the address, the station will present the bag pipe version of Amazing Grace and Whitney Houston's version of the Star Spangled Banner.

Lambda Sigma, Westminster's leadership honor society, will distribute red, white, and blue ribbons to those who attend the special chapel service scheduled at 11:45 a.m.

"This is a service of remembrance and reflection in honor of those who lost their lives on Sept. 11," said Steve Allen, chaplain at Westminster. "The service will include prayers, scripture, a brief meditation, and special music by the Chamber Choir, and Dr. Anne Bentz (assistant professor of music) with Nancy DeSalvo (assistant professor of music) accompanying.

The radio station plans a live broadcast of the chapel service. Patriotic music interspersed with live student reactions will continue the rest of the day.
