Faculty Forum Continues at Westminster College

Posted on Thursday, September 12, 2002

Dr. Bethany Hicok, assistant professor of English at Westminster College, will continue Westminster's Faculty Forum Wednesday, Sept. 25, at 11:30 a.m. in Patterson Hall room 311.

"My talk, "Ordering a Box of Maniacs': Contexts of Desire in the Work of Sylvia Plath," focuses on the connections between Sylvia Plath's development as a writer, and her experiences at Smith College in the 1950s," said Hicok. "I am primarily interested in constructions of gender in the 1950s women's college environment. I look at women and sexuality, questions of marriage and family, and women and ambition."

Hicok, who joined Westminster College in 2001, earned her undergraduate degree from Russell Sage College, and her master's and Ph.D. from the University of Rochester.
