Westminster College Music Professor to Present Pop Concert

Dr. Nancy Zipay DeSalvo, assistant professor of music at Westminster College, plans a piano pop concert Tuesday, Nov. 28, at 7:30 p.m. in Orr Auditorium.

DeSalvo's program includes "Etude de Concert" by Edward MacDowell, "Sonata for Piano" by Stephen T. Griebling, "Graceful Ghost Rag" by William Bolcom, and "Preludes for Piano" by George Gershwin. Select members of the Westminster Wind Ensemble will assist DeSalvo's rendition of Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue."

DeSalvo performs extensively across the United States as a professional accompanying pianist and chamber music collaborator. Guest solo appearances include a performance with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra.

She captured first prize for her performance with baritone Jason Fuh in their rendition of "Four Claudal Poems" in the Darius Milhaud Performance Auditions held at the Cleveland Institute of Music, and was the 1997 recipient of the Gwendolyn Koldofsky Award.

DeSalvo earned her undergraduate degree from Youngstown State University, her master's from the Manhattan School of Music, and her D.M.A from The Cleveland Institute of Music.
