Nationally-Known Soprano to Give Recital at Westminster College

Jennifer Davis Jones, nationally-known soprano, will give a recital at Westminster College Wednesday, Jan. 31, at 7:30 p.m. in Wallace Memorial Chapel.

Jones' concert repertoire includes Richard Strauss' "Vier Letzie Lieder," Beethoven's Mass in C, and operetta excerpts. She will be accompanied by Dr. Nancy Zipay DeSalvo, assistant professor of music at Westminster College.

Jones made her Carnegie Hall debut as a soprano soloist in Luigi Boccherini's "Villancicos." Her most recent concert engagements include Cincinnatti's Taft Museum rising Stars Recital Series and a Viennese Evening with the Lake Placid Sinfonietta. During the fall of 2000, she sang the role of Donna Anna in "Don Giovanni" with the Dayton Opera, and will do so again in 2001 with Akron Lyric Opera Theater.

Jones is a graduate of the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati and the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. She pursued further Italian studies at L'Universita per Stranieri a Perugia, Italia.

The concert is free and open to the public. While at Westminster, Jones will also conduct a vocal master class for Westminster students.
