Westminster College to Host Nine Area Schools in Business Competition

Westminster College will host nine area high schools in this year's competition of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Regional Leadership Conference on Tuesday, Feb. 13.

Approximately 250 students from Commodore Perry, Laurel, Lawrence County AVTS, Mohawk, Neshannock, Oil City, Titusville, West Middlesex, and Wilmington Area high schools will attend this event sponsored by Wilmington Area High School, and organized by Wilmington FBLA co-advisors LeeAnn Petro and Cynthia Welker.

Competition will be judged by professionals from Westminster College and local community leaders in 29 events such as: accounting, business communications, business law, economics, computer applications, desktop publishing, impromptu speaking, international business, marketing, parliamentary procedures, public speaking, and technology concepts. The competition is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

The winners, who will be announced during a formal awards ceremony in Orr Auditorium, will advance to the State Leadership Conference at Seven Springs Resort from April 18-20.

Officers of the Westminster College Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE), Kimberly Chmura, senior business administration major from New Castle; Michele Pasqualino, senior accounting major from New Castle, Lisa Bohaychick, sophomore business administration major from New Kensington, and Christina Contes, sophomore elementary education major from New Kensington, will complement the judging staff and will involve the visiting high school students in a business-related program while the judges tabulate competition scores
